USA Martial Arts Training Center

Master Morihei UeshibaWhat is Aikido? Aikido, the quiet Martial Art, grew out of the combat disciplines of the Samurai. Founded in the early 1900's by Master Morihei Ueshiba.

Aikido is a relatively new martial art that combines physical dicipline and practical effectiveness with an emphasis on personal growth. The English translation of Aikido is
"The Way of harmony". Aikido was not developed to win by overpowering an opponent. Aikido makes it possible for you to resolve conflict by de-escalating violence and neutralizing aggression.

In comparison the the "kick punch" techniques of the striking arts, such as Karate and TaeKwonDo, Aikido is a very traditional Japanese martial art of the mind and body. It incorporates joint locking, wrist pins and nerve control techniques to dominate and subdue an opponent. Aikido teaches students to blend with their opponent. Initially it would seem a less effective means to defend oneself. However, in actuality, Aikido is considered the most popular martial art studied within Law Enforcement and other defensive tactic programs. The world renowned Yoshinkai style is taught to the Tokyo Riot Police, female police officers and their forces throughout Japan.

We do not have competitions or tournaments. We work together as a team, we do not compete against each other.
Aikido encourages students to grow both mentally and physically. Students learn to harmonize with everyday life experiences. They become more flexible and improve their cardiovascular fitness.

Aikido is beautiful yet devastating.

USA Martial Arts utilizes a complete, integrated system which teaches techniques to defend yourself intelligently in threatening situations.

At USA Martial Arts we believe that developing and maintaining a sound body and mind are essential to getting the most out of life. In our adult program, students experience a unique approach to self defense and exercise that benefits both the body and the mind.

To strengthen the body, our program incorporates isometric and dynamic tension exercise. Flexibility will be enhanced through a gradual building process of safe and easy stretching techniques. You will find that breathing and concentration exercises sharpen your senses and reflexes while allowing you to relax from the stress of daily life. This unique combination of using the power of the body and the mind is the key to increased energy, self discipline, and fitness for a longer happier life. These qualities are essential in recognizing and handling self defense situations, as well as managing stress.
